Home is where…

August 15, 2010

home-sweet-home

To the young boy, entering hostel

Home is what he leaves behind

But as days and months pass by

Home becomes where his friends reside.

 sad-boy

For the mother, bidding goodbye

Home becomes empty forever

Except the times her son comes

In holidays, back to her.

mother-son

For the newly wedded bride

Home for her, in all these years

Changes overnight, just like her life

To that of husband’s forever after.

For the husband who’s welcoming

A new member into his life

To build a caring, loving home

Together, they will strive

 Sunset dining

For the old parents, living

In a far-away place alone

The Old-Age House never

Can be the home foregone

oldage

For the nomad on a long journey

Who’s always on the move

May be for life, or for passion

Home is where he finds love

husband-wife

For the many victims of partition

Who were forced to migrate

Home will always be that one

Set up with care in the land he left

 partition

For different people, sometimes

A whole new meaning it is

But what never changes ever

That Home is where Heart is

home-heart

This poem is in response to the contest being run by The Banyan Trees

Thank you so much 🙂 Contest was just an excuse; penning down a verse was the main reason 🙂

Very well said, And I wonder that is why we have home everywhere even in websites to get us to known/safe place when we get lost 😛

Hey, welcome and you are right! We have a “Home” page in internet, too 🙂

beautifully explained the meaning of Home 🙂

Home is where one gets a sound sleep…and feels that he belongs there.

Thanks 🙂 Oh yes, you are absolutely right on that sleep and belonging part 😉
