Graduation Ceremony (Fiction 55)

Today is my Convocation. My parents are with me to celebrate the determination with which I overcame drug problems and passed law school.
They announce my name. Everyone applauds. My parents crane their neck to get a better view.
I am lying on the bathroom floor, my forearm punctured, in my last attempt to celebrate.
Note: Even though the photo of Convocation is of my college and my batch mates, it does not, in any way, imply any link between the fiction and my college. Copyrights vest with the respective authors of both the images.
Awesome. My fave 55-er. The impact of the last line is spectacular, for the lack of a better word. 😀 Go Tiger…
You are too generous with your compliments; in this round, I will have to carry forth your legacy of last round in topping the 55F category! Huge responsibility 🙂
Thank you very much 🙂
You know drugs are not necessarily bad – narcotics are or substance abuse is bad.
I noticed the disclaimer as well.
good stuff.!
You are right there… Of course, I had to add the disclaimer when I realised I have said “law school” and was using my own Convo pics! 😉
Good one!!!
Really? I myself thought it was pathetic! Ask my team members whom I asked to review! Thanks 🙂
I liked the way you have linked parents, education and drugs in 55 words
(grinning broadly) Thanks, Mahesh 🙂
Nicely done…shows that not all is perfect as it seems. Good luck with BPL!
Yes, especially in substance abuse… Thank you so much!

The craving never ends, does it?
Beautifully penned.
Some habits never leave us, no matter how much we try.
Good one! 🙂
The last line is a gem!
Thanks 🙂 Welcome and do drop by more often 🙂
This is clearly the BEST 55-er of all!! Still gives me the shivers, though I’ve read it umpteen times earlier!!!!!!
That’s some real honour you have bestowed upon me, fellow Tiger 🙂 All I can say is I am humbled 🙂 I am proud of my team members 🙂
