Fantastic Friday Fiction – III
I am back this Friday with one more Fiction 55.
55 Fiction is a micro-fiction within a word limit of 55 words, containing the following four elements: a setting; one or more character(s); conflict; and a resolution. Fiction 55s are usually dramatized so as to get the maximum effect within the restricted word limit.
THE LAST MOMENT
It was pin drop silence everywhere. I looked around and saw their faces, taut with tension. All eyes were fixed on him unblinkingly.
He looked up at the setting sun and started to run.
A shout; the finger went up; the stadium roared together.
India won the Test match at the last moment.

This is to celebrate the stupendous win of India against South Africa at Eden Gardens yesterday. This is not the best fiction 55, but I hope it conveyed the last moment tension of the spectators; and the sense of pride at being able to retain the numero uno position among all the Test-playing nations. This is also a tribute to Bhajji, the awesome but oft-misunderstood player, who always wears his heart on his sleeves 🙂
man that was some tense last few moments…gripping was redefined.
I will never forget Amla for the rest of my life.
I think Amla redefined Test match batting and derserved both the MoM & MoS awards..
Ha! That was a great way of celebrating the victory – dedicating a 55 fiction. 🙂
One of the best test matches I’ve ever seen so far.
I was itching to write a 55 fiction and the memory of the test match was fresh.. so there was a ready-made topic at hand 😉
I was particularly interested in this one bcos I was at the grounds on the first day and hence followed cricinfo closely for the rest of the days, when I was in office…
hey awesome post! a message-filled story in 55 words. impressive:))
hey, welcome and thank u so much 🙂 glad that u liked it..
I predicted the win beforehand, somehow my predictions always are coming true in tests 😀
Perhaps you should try to write about the moments before defeat, always a better read.
Hey, welcome to my blog.. and a good suggestion; surely will try it out 🙂
That really a good post !! Your post reminded me of the victorious match ..but hey that was not a fiction , it happened in real !!!!! 🙂
Thank you 🙂 It surely was a fact but the way it was presented was Fiction 55 😉 hence I took the liberty to call it Fiction 🙂
